12000 affordable houses to be constructed in Navi Mumbai


The City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra Ltd (CIDCO) has embarked on an ambitious programme for affordable housing comprising 12000 tenements spread across various categories in various locations of this satellite township.

CIDCO's Vastuvihar in Kharghar and Unnati in Ulwe housing projects are getting tremendous response for Economically Weaker Section and Low Income Group houses. 

There is a substantial demand which is not being fulfilled by the private sector.

With the fast progressing Metro Rail, upcoming International Airport and other major projects, demand for EWS/LIG houses will still go up.

To care to huge demand for affordable houses for EWS and LIG, 968 houses for EWS and 2622 houses for LIG are planned.

The work is awared in February 2013 and is expected to be completed by May 2015.

World reputed architects like Charles Correa, Hafeez Contractor, Ratan Batliboi, etc have lent their asthetic touch to some of the structures. More details here
