Salient Features:

- The Eastern Freeway is being built by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and funded by the Central Government through the JNNURM.

- One of the unique features of this project is the construction of Mumbai's first twin tunnel at the footsteps of the BARC mountain.

- The twin tunnels are 505 metres and 555 metres in length and will have four carriageways in each tunnel.
